Christmas Tree Wishes

Our Christmas Tree is down, and the spring semester about to start, but we wanted to share with you some of the serious, and less serious, wishes that we found placed on our tree in the student center.

Love and Hope

Good Grades and a Better Job

Common Courtesy

To win 100 million dollars. O yea and to pass all my finals!

Bring all of the family together, in every family.

Clean Energy

Fairness and Equality

Clean Water for all

Toys!

I wish that SIUC would have better food, better surroundings and non-racist people

Stop violence in schools

There were many others, and some repeats. We thank everyone who participated, and hope that all of your wishes come true in 2012!

Chancellor’s Visit

Just a reminder to all GSPC members, and also to all graduate and professional students. The Chancellor will be speaking at a special session of GPSC, tomorrow night at 7 pm in the Kaskaskia room. I hope to see many of you there, and it is open to the public!

Meet and Greet, MCMA Building

The Graduate and Professional Student Council is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Meet and Greet in the MCMA Building, December 1 at 10 am until 11 am. We will provide free coffee and doughnuts to all graduate and professional students who stop by to meet GPSC officers and representatives.

We can discuss funding for upcoming events of RSOs, university policies that affect graduate students, and how to become involved with GPSC. We hope to have at least two more such Meet and Greet opportunities in the spring. If you want us to come to your building, send us an email at gpsc@siu.edu, or contact one of the officers.

Student Center Christmas Tree

GPSC has a tree for the Student Center decoration contest this year. It is located near the Oasis Convenience Store. The theme of the tree is “Bringing Light” and we have placed a basket of empty paper for people to write their wish for what can make the world a brighter place. Come add your idea to the tree!

Graduate and Professional Student Council

The Graduate and Professional Student Council solicits opinions from its constituency, discusses, and takes positions on such issues as graduate assistantships, fee increases, grievance procedures, campus safety and other matters of relevance to graduate students. The GPSC President and Executive Board communicate constituency concerns to the campus administration and the Board of Trustees. The Council also serves as a resource for graduate and professional students regarding various university services.

  • The GPSC constituency consists of all part and full-time graduate and professional students who are enrolled in course work during the current semester.
  • There are more than 5,500 graduate and professional students enrolled in approximately 85 academic programs are represented by the Graduate and Professional Student Council.
